Just killed an awesomelly huge fire ant nest (invicta) in UFRJ, Rio de Janeiro. Am finished extracting the venom, really loads of, suspected 2g of venom alkaloids!! They are quite yellow, I dont get why other authors elsewhere claim they are colourless....
Anyone has a hint?

New developments, new insights
Been away for quite a while...
Much happened lately, mainly end-of-doc-thesis procedures.
Getting straight to facts, some exciting new developments on the fire ants surfaced:
1) Just heard the genome for invicta is on its late stages of development
2) Our latest venom analysis disconfirmed my previous expectations, the venom proteins of invicta are indeed quite different from saevissima.... and much more diverse! We are currently attempting to get to gram-amounts of pure saevissima neurotoxin, and get it sequenced.
